Start with the shelf you actually use

Clear one shelf and wipe it before rearranging. Set aside everything that belongs elsewhere. Group the remaining objects by purpose so you can see what needs to stay within reach.

Return the most-used pieces first. Leave enough space to lift them out without moving several other objects. Place heavier items where the shelf can safely support them, following its load rating.

Add decorative pieces last. Take a photograph from your usual viewing position, then live with the arrangement for a few days before changing it.
